The "Meet My Religious Neighbor" series continues with a commemoration of the trek across Iowa and the western plains by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1800s. Ramadan Prayer and Iftar Meal
Meet My Religious Neighbor - April 5 Sunset (magrib) prayer, breaking of the fast, and iftar meal (delicious Bosnian food) with the people of Ezan. To know: Participants will remove shoes upon entering. Women are asked to cover their heads with a scarf, both men and women wear modest clothing (covering to ankle and wrist). Hear the Kirtan hymns and Ardas prayer. Join the community for the Langar meal (free vegetarian Punjabi food)! To know: participants will remove shoes and both men and women cover their heads. The community has scarfs and kerchiefs to borrow or you can bring your own. Please wear modest, comfortable clothes--most sit on the floor but chairs are available for those who need them. September 15th, 6:00pm, Islamic and Education Center: Ezan (6206 Douglas Ave, Des Moines) Join the community at Ezan: Islamic and Education Center for the observance and celebration of "mawlid" ("mevlud" in Bosnian), the birthday of Prophet Muhammad' (pbuh).
